BABALUKU

Born in Uganda, Babaluku was uprooted as a young boy and moved to Vancouver, Canada where he grew up. Despite his safe and comfortable life, Babaluku has been unable to ignore his personal and ancestral roots. We follow as he returns to Uganda, empowered by a mission to spread compassion and understanding through his music whether it be in the studio, in the aftermath of a political riot, or performing a free ghetto concert for local residents. We also get a glimpse of Silas’ personal journey as he is officially made head of the family following his father’s death. His challenge as these diverse threads of his life come together is how to channel this exploration of his personal history in such a ways as to benefit the broader community around him.

Babaluku on the Nile

The Bavubuka Foundation is a nonprofit organization that believes that connecting youth with music and the arts can transform lives and unify diverse communities. Bavubuka IS DEDICATED TO creating spaces and educational programs that will nurture and empower a new generation of young leaders in Uganda and all of Africa, who will use their voices to communicate positive messages and affect positive change in their communities and the world.
